About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Senior Principal Engineering Technologist to join our System Architecture teams in Austin, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the development of electrical architecture for mobile equipment and their hardware systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical architecture for mobile equipment and their hardware systems.
  • Determine and communicate design approaches and parameters.
  • Drive system architecture definition for assigned program, and ensure consistency/compatibility with other products (both new/legacy) as necessary.
  • Oversee experimental/proof of concept tests and evaluate results.
  • Select components based on analysis of specifications, cost, continuity of supply, and reliability.
  • Review original design manufacturer and sub-tier vendor proposals and capability to support product development and production.
  • Ensure that designs integrate with rest of product functions including mechanical and software.
  • Create and maintain required documentation including specifications.
  • Ensure the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs.
  • Support specialized electrical sub-systems such as power, batteries, comms, graphics, component, memory, etc.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years' experience in product design.
  • Work experience and deep knowledge of X86 and/or ARM architecture.
  • Prior mobile EE architecture experience.
  • Technical experience in OS integration.
  • Strong aptitude to assess and optimize products by making the proper feature tradeoffs between electrical, mechanical, power, thermal, firmware, and BIOS.
Desirable Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Graduate Degree.
  • Working with Asian ODM partners and experience running a core team.
