Position OverviewAECOM is seeking a dedicated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to become a vital part of our expanding Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) / Geotechnical division across multiple states. As a key contributor to our CCR team, you will engage in meaningful projects throughout the southeastern United States, benefiting from a diverse workplace and exceptional training and career advancement opportunities.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in the CCR sector who are leaders, client-focused, impactful, and decisive. This role presents an excellent opportunity for motivated engineers to advance their careers while addressing critical environmental and engineering challenges in the region.
The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as the lead engineer on medium to large-scale projects.
- Providing specialized technical insights for studies and designs in your area of expertise.
- Reviewing and approving work outputs.
- Delivering technical expertise for studies and design initiatives.
- Presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
- Conducting quality control assessments of work produced by team members.
- Contributing to the development of technical proposals.
- Estimating engineering budgets and schedules for large projects.
- Offering technical leadership in CCR ash basin closure, landfill design, and related regulatory, planning, design, and construction projects.
- Maintaining and enhancing existing client relationships through successful project execution.
- Developing new client connections and expanding the CCR and Geotechnical practice throughout the state and region.
- Serving as a project and program manager.
- Participating in client meetings and coordinating with diverse project teams.
- Engaging in national organizations on behalf of AECOM as appropriate.
- Leading client development and design initiatives while recruiting new talent to strengthen AECOM's team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 8 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in CCR-related projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in relevant states or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
- Willingness to travel within the Southeastern United States for site visits and client interactions.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License and ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.
- Successful completion of a drug screening as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- 9+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience.
- 10+ years of relevant project experience in Civil design, CCR, or Geotechnical Engineering projects related to solid waste disposal, CCR management, dams, and impoundments.
- Experience in Business Development and Client Relationship Management.
- Technical contribution experience on general civil and/or remediation projects.
- Proactive assistance in technical efforts and project team support.
- Experience with large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with storage tank, manufactured gas plant, renewable energy, landfill, and/or air projects.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification.
- Construction 30 certification.
- Significant experience as a project manager and client liaison.
- Confidence to work independently, producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget.

- This position may be located in various states.
- Exempt Position: Compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location, with a salary range of $135,000-155,000 annually.
