Job Summary

As a key member of the Alexza team, the Financial Planning Manager will be responsible for managing, preparing, and administering financial activities, including budgeting and financial analytics. This role will involve reviewing and providing recommendations for financial planning and control, as well as providing relevant fiscal information to the executive management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the 5-year strategic planning process, quarterly forecasting, mid-year latest estimate, and annual corporate targets update.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Team to complete monthly reporting and controlling reports.
  • Analyze and prepare semi-annual and actual year-to-date business reports for Alexza executive management, department managers, and parent company.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly actual results to department managers, working closely with them to obtain a solid understanding of departmental business and actual results.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parent company Finance contacts to improve reporting and business relationships.
  • Prepare and update long-term projections/models for long-term planning, contingent liability calculations, impairment testing, etc.
  • Lead and manage the monthly clinical trial accrual process in collaboration with the Accounting Team.
  • Develop and maintain the NPV model for development programs, updating it twice per year or as needed.
  • Lead and manage Capital Expenditure forecasting, updating it twice per year or as needed.
  • Prepare schedules and analysis for external auditors related to clinical trial accruals and contingent liability, as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and other projects/responsibilities as required.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP, etc.).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to take the initiative, accountability, and drive results.
  • Excellent organization, communication (oral and written), and collaboration skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5-7 years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 2 years at manager level.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Pharmaceutical, medical device, life science manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
