Pipe Layer

Autry Grading, Inc. is seeking experienced professionals to join our team as Pipe Layers. As a key member of our crew, you will work closely with general laborers and foremen to complete projects. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience laying underground public utilities, including sanitary sewer, storm drain, and water lines.

• Provide a safe work environment and promote a culture of safety.
• Communicate daily job specifications with the Foreman.
• Follow directions and perform various skilled tasks associated with utility installation operations.
• Use a range of tools, including shovels, pipe lasers, levels, transits, grade rods, rakes, lutes, brooms, picks, hammers, saws, pneumatic hammers, drills, and tampers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• The job requires standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, and squatting.
• Safely and efficiently work in trenches and excavations.
• Shovel dirt and stone to establish grade, perform masonry or concrete work, and operate small compactors.
• Use a pipe laser and target to lay pipe straight and true to desired grade.
• Lift objects weighing over 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• Work for extended periods, up to 9-12 hours, and be exposed to extreme temperatures.
• Ride to and from projects in various locations within our geographic region.

• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
• Report to work at the designated start time.
• Be able to work long hours when required.
• Adhere to safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Prefer a valid NC Driver's License.
