ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment.
- Communicate with Foreman as to the daily job specifications.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Performs various skilled task which are associated with utility installation operations. This includes but not limited to uses various tools such as a shovel, pipe laser, level, transit, grade rod, rake, lute, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer, drill, tamp and quickie saw.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions and perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- The job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting.
- Safely and efficiently working in trenches and excavations.
- Shoveling dirt and stone to establish grade, some masonry or concrete work, operating small compactors.
- Using a pipe laser and target to lay pipe straight and true to desired grade.
- Requires lifting of or in excess of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
- Walking and standing may require a full day of 9 to 12 hours.
- Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures; and
- Jobs requires riding to and from projects in various locations within our geographic region. If driving a company vehicle, company policies on drivers must be met.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Be able to work long hours when required.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
- Be at least age 18 years of age.
- Prefer a valid NC Drivers License.
