Pipe Layer

Autry Grading, Inc. is seeking experienced pipe layers to collaborate with general laborers and foremen to complete projects. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in laying underground public utilities, including sanitary sewer, storm drain, and water lines.

• Provide a safe work environment and promote a culture of safety.
• Communicate daily job specifications with the foreman.
• Ability to follow directions and perform various skilled tasks associated with utility installation operations.
• Use tools such as shovels, pipe lasers, levels, transits, grade rods, rakes, lutes, brooms, picks, hammers, saws, pneumatic hammers, drills, and tampers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, and squatting.
• Safely and efficiently working in trenches and excavations.
• Shoveling dirt and stone to establish grade, some masonry or concrete work, operating small compactors.
• Using a pipe laser and target to lay pipe straight and true to desired grade.
• Lifting of or in excess of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• Walking and standing may require a full day of 9 to 12 hours.
• Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Riding to and from projects in various locations within our geographic region.

• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
• Report to work at the designated start time.
• Be able to work long hours when required.
• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Be at least age 18 years of age.
• Prefer a valid NC Drivers License.
