Job Overview

Position: Hot Asphalt Transport Driver


Summary:
A Hot Asphalt Transport Driver is tasked with the responsibility of transporting our asphalt products from terminals to various locations in a safe and punctual manner, adhering to both State and Federal Motor Carrier regulations.


Safety Protocols:
All employees at Suit-Kote are expected to follow safety guidelines and maintain safe work practices consistently. While on company property or at customer sites, it is crucial to act in a way that ensures the safety of oneself, colleagues, and others.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle for any defects and ensure it is in safe operating condition before, during, and after trips.
  • Maintain and submit daily logs required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver's duty status, mileage, and other legally mandated records, as well as fuel receipts and payroll documentation.
  • Utilize commercial driving knowledge and skills to maneuver the vehicle in various challenging conditions, including heavy traffic and adverse weather, while effectively navigating tight loading and unloading areas.
  • Report any accidents involving company equipment and any safety hazards encountered on the road.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the equipment and perform cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Execute all tasks in accordance with company policies and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing the operation of commercial motor vehicles.
  • Work effectively in diverse weather conditions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid CDL A license.
  • Tanker endorsement is required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong customer service skills and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime and weekend shifts.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a background check.
  • Consent to a DMV license evaluation.
  • Willingness to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Compliance with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Capability to work in noisy environments with various odors.
  • Physical ability to operate dome lids on trailers, hook and unhook trailers, climb ladders, and handle hoses associated with the position.
  • Engage in bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and squatting as required.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Hazmat endorsement is advantageous.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office).

Compensation:
The hourly wage ranges from $24 to $25.
