Position Overview:
As a Long Haul Truck Operator, your primary responsibility is to ensure the secure and punctual transportation of tractor trailers designated for mobile medical imaging services. This role may involve cleaning the tractor and trailer, both inside and out, as well as performing minor maintenance tasks. Adherence to the standards and protocols established by Akumin regarding the setup and dismantling of units is essential. Compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) is also required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transporting units / Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections / Executing setup and takedown procedures.
  • Completing necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Performing cleaning and minor repairs.
  • Handling miscellaneous tasks such as wait times and tractor services.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver's license in the state of residence and a DOT Medical certificate.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience driving commercial tractor trailers, knowledge of FMCSR, and basic computer skills.
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and night shifts.
  • Local travel is a requirement.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • All candidates accepting an employment offer will need to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Physical Demands:
The employee may encounter strong magnetic fields or environmental hazards such as noise exposure and travel requirements.

In a typical work environment, the following physical activities are expected:
  • More than 50% of the time: Sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive movements of hands, arms, and legs. Ability to see, speak, and hear to communicate effectively.
  • Less than 50% of the time: Stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, and lifting.
