Position: Hot Asphalt Transport Driver
Summary:
A Hot Asphalt Transport Driver is tasked with the safe and timely transportation of asphalt products from terminals to designated locations, adhering to both State and Federal Motor Carrier regulations.
Safety Responsibilities:
All employees are expected to follow safety protocols and maintain safe working practices at all times. When on company property or operating equipment, employees must act in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves and others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition before, during, and after trips.
- Maintain accurate daily records for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver logs, mileage, and other necessary documentation.
- Utilize driving skills to maneuver the vehicle safely in various conditions, including heavy traffic and adverse weather, and in tight loading/unloading areas.
- Report any accidents or safety hazards encountered during transport.
- Keep the vehicle clean and perform maintenance as needed.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and comply with regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles.
- Work effectively in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid CDL A license.
- Tanker endorsement is required.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong customer service skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Demonstrated work ethic and communication skills.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities.
- Flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime and weekend shifts.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
- Consent to a DMV license evaluation.
- Willingness to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Compliance with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Capability to work in noisy environments with various odors.
- Physical ability to operate equipment, including opening dome lids and handling hoses.
- Engage in bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and squatting as required.
Preferred Attributes:
- Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Hazmat endorsement is advantageous.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
Compensation:
The hourly wage ranges from $24 to $25.
