Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join our team at Beaufort County School District. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptional needs, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.

Job Summary:

The Personal Care Assistant will provide individualized assistance to students with disabilities, enabling them to access the curriculum and educational environment. This role requires a high level of physical effort, as you will be responsible for lifting, transferring, and caring for students with mobility impairments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accompany students with disabilities throughout the school day, providing constant observation and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervising teachers to administer medication, therapy, and special treatments required by students.
  • Perform daily data collection and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as maintaining records and participating in training sessions.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and experience working with physically and/or behaviorally disabled children.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and exert physical effort necessary to frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, toilet, transfer, diaper, and feed assigned students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment, with a focus on student safety and well-being.
