Cancer Care Coordinator Job Description

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a skilled Cancer Care Coordinator to join our team at the Oncology office. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless delivery of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Register patients accurately and efficiently, verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Coordinate scheduling for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluate patient eligibility for prior authorizations and pre-certifications, ensuring timely reimbursement for services.
  • Collect payments for office visits and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Coordinate chemo/biotherapy and radiation oncology schedules, managing delays and revisions as needed.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and interpersonal skills.
  • Assist with urgent diagnostic testing and coordinate planned and unplanned admissions to acute care.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years medical office experience preferred
  • Previous experience with health insurance and patient billing preferred
  • Completion of medical terminology course required
