Medical Assistant

Tennessee Oncology is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant Graduate to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing safe and quality care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Screen patients for pain, distress, and clinical depression, and document the results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Review medication lists and preferred pharmacy information with patients and update the EMR accordingly.
- Assist with telephone triage, return phone calls, and adhere to authorized protocols.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, and ensure rooms and chairs are turned over efficiently.
- Manage prescription refill extension requests and call in prescriptions according to Tennessee Oncology policies.
- Assist with nursing evaluations, vital signs, and comfort rounds.
- Administer approved medications as ordered by providers and according to Tennessee Oncology practice standards.
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform simple dressing changes under the supervision of an LPN/RN.
- Verify accuracy of appointments and arrange referrals at the direction of a provider.
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for the clinic.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program and Current Medical Assistant Certification strongly preferred.
- 6 months experience in a healthcare-related field or CMA/CCMA certification.
- Current TO approved BLS provider card required within 3 months of hire.
