Department Overview:
The Community Organizing and Leadership Department at CASA engages working-class individuals in grassroots initiatives that cultivate power, nurture member leadership, and achieve tangible improvements for working-class Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. With offices in various states, CASA's team of organizers, leadership trainers, and membership coordinators collaborate to recruit and empower geographic committees of CASA members to spearhead grassroots efforts at local, state, and national levels.
Role Summary:
The Manager of Racial and Gender Equity Training will be responsible for the design and execution of popular education curricula for CASA members, community organizers, allies, and partners in both English and Spanish, or English and French. This role will involve close collaboration with the Racial Justice Equity and Inclusion (RJEI) HR manager and the CASA RJEI team to support the development and delivery of essential training for CASA staff. All educational content and materials will reflect CASA's mission, vision, and values, actively demonstrating our commitment to being an Anti-Racist organization, and advancing Pro-Black, Pro-Indigenous, Feminist, and Queer Liberation principles.
- Develop and sustain a foundational training curriculum focused on Racial and Gender Equity utilizing popular education methodologies.
- Facilitate ongoing train-the-trainer sessions to ensure that new CASA members, activists, organizers, staff, and board members are grounded in a shared understanding of Racial and Gender Equity and its connection to CASA's mission and values.
- Create Racial and Gender equity curricula, training resources, and informational materials to support CASA's local, state, and national initiatives.
- Collaborate with organizing, communications, and policy teams to produce additional materials that aid in the leadership development of CASA member activists.
- Participate as a member of an interdepartmental team supporting CASA's campaign efforts, including collaborations with external coalitions, funders, researchers, and other partners.
- Work alongside a data and evaluation team to develop assessment tools that track and measure the intended outcomes and impacts of all training programs.
- Assist the Leadership Development and Organizing team in creating and implementing broader political education and campaign materials to support ongoing or new organizing efforts and priority issues.
- Monitor, analyze, and synthesize outcomes from leadership development programs focused on Racial and Gender Equity.
- Support logistics and implementation for both internal and external training sessions, including member activist training, train-the-trainer workshops, and web-based or video training.
- Ensure that program and grant deliverables are collected and reported accurately and punctually.
- Supervise staff, volunteers, and consultants, ensuring that professional development opportunities are available and that all HR policies are adhered to.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key national, state, and local partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to the position.
- Possess a valid US driver's license and reliable transportation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive experience in movement training management.
- Proven track record in curriculum development and design.
- Strong passion for Racial and Gender Equity.
- Deep commitment to Anti-Racism, Gender Equity, and intersectional curriculum design.
- Familiarity with pedagogical theories and curriculum design principles.
- Experience in facilitating both in-person and digital popular education training sessions.
- Bilingual proficiency is required; excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Spanish or French are essential, with additional languages being a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with individuals encountered during the performance of assigned duties.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel to support CASA teams in various states and occasionally assist external partners.
- Must embody passion, idealism, and a progressive, pro-immigrant and pro-working-class ethos. Integrity, a positive attitude, mission-driven focus, and a people-centered approach are essential.
- In-depth knowledge of the organizing, policy, and social justice landscape.
- Cultural agility and experience grounding work in an anti-oppressive framework.
- Experience in planning large-scale events is advantageous.
