Professional Coder II Specialist

**Job Summary**

The Coder II position at Truman Medical Centers is responsible for accurate coding of professional services from medical record documentation.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Reviews, codes and assigns correct ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and E/M level codes for professional services across multiple specialties according to AMA/CMS coding guidelines.
  • Utilizes knowledge of medical insurance billing and collection, as well as CPT, ICD 9/10 CD, and HCPCS coding and medical terminology in multiple physician practice specialties.
  • Maintains knowledge of Medicare rules and Local Carrier Determination (LCD) and national Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and proper procedure code sequencing.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff and demonstrates high proficiency in Physician at Teaching Hospital (PATH) documentation guidelines.

**Requirements**

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification (e.g., CPC, COC, CCS, Specialty Coding Credential).
  • 2-years medical records coding of CPT/HCPCS & ICD-10 for multiple specialties.
  • Knowledge of insurance company, third-party and government reimbursement programs; i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, MC+, etc.
