Job Overview

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Collaborate with students, parents, and other educators to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide Specialized Instruction: Design and deliver tailored instructional programs that address the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to ensure a seamless transition between classroom instruction and specialized support.
  • Assess and Adjust Student Instruction: Continuously assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet the evolving needs of each student.
  • Communicate with Parents and Professionals: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEPs, and other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices, research, and regulatory requirements in special education.
  • Foster a Positive Classroom Environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education or Related Field: Possess a degree in special education or a related field, such as education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid Virginia Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement: Hold a valid Virginia teaching license with a special education endorsement.
  • Experience with Elementary Students Preferred: While not required, experience working with elementary students is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Practices: Possess a strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong Communication and Teamwork Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues.
