Job Title: Corrections Physician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Physician Specialist to join our team at the Oregon Department of Corrections. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric assessment and treatment services to offenders within our correctional facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for offenders
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as clinically indicated
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Provide consultation services to general medical providers and other prescribers
  • Document patient information and treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner
Requirements:
  • Valid medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in general adult psychiatry
  • Licensed to practice medicine without restrictions within the state of Oregon
  • Valid individual federal DEA certification and up-to-date CPR certification
Working Conditions:

The work is conducted in adult male and/or female prisons, and offenders may become physically and verbally abusive. Training in crisis intervention techniques, emergency procedures, and defensive measures is essential.
