Role Overview for Process Mechanical Engineer:

The primary focus of this role involves the development, design, implementation, and verification of automation solutions tailored for the assembly and packaging of commercial biomedical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery: Design and engineer automated assembly and packaging solutions that comply with industry standards, ensuring readiness for production integration and validation. Prepare comprehensive documentation packages for design and engineering processes.
  • Project Leadership: Define the technical scope of projects, establish priorities, and sequence execution. Collaborate with team members to align skills with project requirements and communicate technical status and challenges to leadership.
  • Design: Assess stakeholder requirements and negotiate the architecture and functional elements of solutions, ensuring they are quantifiable and verifiable. Conduct and document design reviews in partnership with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering: Prioritize and quantify mechanical and electrical components, analyze CAD-generated drawings, and implement schematics. Facilitate engineering reviews with team members and suppliers.
  • Implementation: Oversee procurement, fabrication, assembly, and integration processes, ensuring adherence to project agreements and leading the integration of solutions into production environments.
  • Verification: Conduct tolerance verifications and document process verification items, cases, and scripts. Define and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and participate in verification activities.
  • Risk Management: Document and review Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Control Plans to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Technical Expertise and Collaboration: Provide guidance and consult with internal and external teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Advocacy: Actively engage with suppliers on behalf of clients, addressing technical challenges and exploring viable options.
  • Product Design Collaboration: Offer insights on the impact of product design on manufacturing, assembly, and packaging processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Expertise: Proficient in automated assembly, mechanical process design, and power distribution.
  • Working Knowledge: Familiarity with material flows, safety and quality by design principles, and intelligent actuators.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to collaborate effectively, resolve challenges, and maintain accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device production environments.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell or Siemens Automation Platforms.
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
