Role Summary:

The Process Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of automation solutions specifically for the assembly and packaging of commercial medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery: Engineer and implement automated assembly and packaging solutions that comply with industry standards, ensuring readiness for production integration and validation.
  • Project Leadership: Define project technical scopes, establish priorities, and align tasks with team capabilities while maintaining communication with project stakeholders regarding technical progress and challenges.
  • Design: Assess stakeholder requirements and prioritize solution architecture elements, conducting thorough design reviews in collaboration with team members and suppliers.
  • Engineering: Manage the identification and quantification of mechanical and electrical components, utilizing CAD for the creation of detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Implementation: Oversee procurement, fabrication, and assembly processes, ensuring effective integration of solutions into the production environment.
  • Verification: Conduct tolerance verifications and document process verification items, including the execution of Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Risk Management: Perform and document analyses such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Technical Collaboration: Engage with suppliers and project teams to provide technical insights and guidance.
  • Advocacy: Represent the acquirer’s interests by engaging suppliers and communicating technical challenges and solutions.
  • Product Design Consultation: Provide expertise on the implications of product design for manufacturing and assembly processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise: Proficient in automated assembly processes, mechanical design, and power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with material flow systems, safety and quality design principles, and intelligent actuator technologies.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to collaborate effectively, resolve challenges, and maintain accountability.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Relevant Experience:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell or Siemens automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
