Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Program Analyst to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for administering correspondence and operations issues, reviewing inquiries received by various communications/media, and conducting analyses of issues related to program segment healthcare administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the team, including responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from various sources, including automated systems, to produce reports and provide management with requested information.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply problem-solving techniques, work methods, practices, and procedures to identify parameters of viable solutions to problems encountered.
  • Workload Analysis: Analyze workload trends from network and facility's operating data, independently identifying variances among facilities, and identifying irregularities in these comparisons that may need further investigation.
  • Research and Development: Research, adapt, and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to evaluate, analyze, and develop guidelines, such as standard operating procedures, job aids, and similar materials related to procedures.
  • Communication: Provide management and other staff on a variety of unique cost and workload issues and provide coordination/support as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct clinical, and workload data to ensure information is accurate and usable for management decision-making purposes.
  • Customer Service: Respond to management requests for statistical and other program segment information pertaining to employing organization.
  • Issue Resolution: Review assigned inquiries (e.g., Congressional, White House, Agency, etc.) received by various media (e.g., letter, telephone, email) to determine their proper disposition.
  • Reporting: Conduct research, coordinates, and gathers/provides additional information as needed to prepare accurate, appropriate responses for those inquiries not directed to other organizations or staff.
  • Accountability: Monitors/tracks assignments to ensure timely, accurate responses and accountability, making ongoing adjustments in accordance with established, assigned priorities and standards.
  • Representation: Serves on ad hoc task forces, committees, or study or other work groups to evaluate, develop, and/or coordinate Program Office or program segment and/or related policy changes and initiatives for procedural issues (e.g., reimbursement).
  • Communication: Attends and represents the employing organization at meetings (e.g., briefings related to fee programs, hearings, public forums, etc.) regarding justification and approval of specific procedures related to program segment operations.
  • Development: Provides justifications for and information on developmental and operational aspects of procedural proposals, such as expected costs, scope of effects, and projected/potential outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a related field, such as program administration, operations management, or data analysis.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions

The work is primarily sedentary, although some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light office items is required. Periodic travel is required.
