The Weitz Company is seeking a seasoned professional to lead their construction projects as a Project Director.
This role involves overseeing administrative and field construction activities to ensure quality standards are met, while maintaining relationships with all project stakeholders. The Project Director will be responsible for managing multiple medium-sized projects, a single large project, or a specific scope on a large, complex project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project schedules, addressing long lead items and ensuring timely completion.
- Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders to optimize project outcomes.
- Prepare comprehensive project status reports and financial risk assessments to inform stakeholders.
- Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities to enhance project efficiency.
- Ensure project safety plans are implemented and communicated effectively.
- Assist in preconstruction activities to ensure project readiness.
- Oversee the buy-out process to ensure seamless project handovers.
- Identify constructability issues in project design to minimize project risks.
- Understand and adhere to contract terms, budgets, and change orders to maintain project integrity.
- Recommend staff development needs and perform other duties as assigned to support team growth.
Requirements:
- Education: A degree in a relevant field, such as construction management or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with a proven track record of project management.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities, with proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
