Job Description

As a Multimedia Journalist at Fort Myers Broadcasting Co, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and capturing high-quality visual content for our news platforms. Your role will involve reporting, writing, and editing stories for multiple platforms, including the internet and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop story ideas and receive assignments or evaluate news leads and news tips.
  • Organize material, determine the slant or emphasis, and write stories according to our editorial style and format standards.
  • Shoot and edit video content to illustrate stories, using Final Cut Pro editing systems or similar equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with photographers assigned to stories, if applicable.
  • Assist news producers in preparing newscasts and online staff in preparing multimedia stories.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems.
  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to carry and set up ENG equipment, often weighing 50lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
