Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant Specialist to join our team at Texas Children's Pediatrics. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection of patient data, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information.
  • Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with complete accuracy.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist provider, as directed, during treatments, examinations, and testing.
  • Document all interventions per practice protocol.
  • Call in and/or send electronic prescription refills as directed.
  • Assist provider during office emergency patient care.
  • Keep rooms stocked with supplies and notify managers when supplies are low.
  • Participate as a member of the care team, working with each member of the team to meet the goals of the patient.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Heart Association.
  • Certified Medical Assistant: One of the following certifications: CCMA, CMA-AAM, CMA-C, EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P, LIC PAR, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical assistant/outpatient care tasks, and customer service concepts.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, and operate basic medical equipment.
  • 1 year of related experience.
  • Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish.
