Key Responsibilities:- Provide Legal Counsel: Offer expert advice and guidance to our executives on a wide range of legal issues, including contract negotiations, risk management, and compliance.
- Develop and Negotiate Requests: Collaborate with our operations leaders to identify and mitigate risks, and develop and negotiate requests for equitable adjustments (REAs).
- Collaborate with Operations Leaders: Work closely with our operations leaders to identify and mitigate risks, and develop strategies to minimize legal liabilities.
- Research and Anticipate Legal Issues: Conduct thorough research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact our company, and provide recommendations to mitigate these risks.
- Consult with Outside Counsel: Consult with or refer matters to outside counsel as required, and ensure that our company is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Advise on Contract Status: Provide advice on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals, and work with our executives to develop strategies to minimize these risks.
- Provide Training: Provide training to our company on legal topics, and ensure that all employees are aware of their legal responsibilities and obligations.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Legal Affairs.
- US Government Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.
- Law Degree: Degree from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and licensed to practice law.
- Relevant Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in an in-house setting or law firm, with practice primarily focused on construction or government contracting related issues.
- Legal Research Skills: Proficiency in legal research, including Lexis, Westlaw, and other research tools, as well as file and document management technology.
- Interpersonal and Presentation Skills: Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization, and to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all businesses.
- Negotiating Skills: Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues, and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all businesses.
- Construction and/or Engineering Degree: Construction and/or engineering related degree.
- Relevant Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience.
