Job Summary

The Education Assistant will provide support to students with special needs, working closely with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts and ensure a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, assisting with academic tasks and promoting independence.
  • Supervise students during class and non-class time, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Assist with data collection and record-keeping, including tracking student progress and behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team approach.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to support students in need.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the educational and behavioral needs of students.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with students with special needs and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
