Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geoscience Trainee to join our team at the Department of Environmental Protection. As a Geoscience Trainee, you will play a crucial role in tackling hydrogeologic challenges and contributing to environmental science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate hydrogeologic and geological aspects of work plans and reports
  • Analyze proposals and designs related to groundwater, soil, surface water, air, and sediment sampling
  • Conduct feasibility and treatability studies, review groundwater pump test proposals, and assess Land Recycling report submissions
  • Collect, organize, and analyze various data types, including field, laboratory, and historical information
  • Provide guidance and information to industry representatives, technical consultants, elected officials, and the public concerning the administration and implementation of Act 2 regulations, policies, and procedures
Requirements
  • Possession of an active Geologist-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists
  • A bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or a closely related field including or supplemented by 30 college credits in geologic coursework
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 30 college credits in geologic coursework
