Job Title: Driver Trainee

At TransForce, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Driver Trainee to join our team. As a Driver Trainee, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the waste collection and recycling industry.

Job Summary:

The Driver Trainee position is a training role that prepares individuals to become drivers in the waste collection and recycling industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for learning and performing the duties of a driver, including operating a truck in a safe and efficient manner, providing waste or recycling removal services to customers, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate a truck in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Provide waste or recycling removal services to customers on assigned routes and haul to disposal sites.
  • Clean up waste spills and overflows.
  • Maintain and update route sheets and logs.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card within 10 days of employment.
  • Must obtain a Class B CDL permit within 60 days of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must not have any DUIs or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and understand a map.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including prolonged physical exertions, such as sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting.
  • Required to enter and exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions:
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
