Job Title: Data Entry/Specimen Processor

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in Seattle, WA.

Job Summary:

The Data Entry/Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive clinical specimens from clients and prioritize orders as needed.
  • Accurately identify and verify patient information and testing ordered on each requisition received.
  • Determine that appropriate orders and samples are present.
  • Properly label, process, and route specimens to testing departments or storage.
  • Accession specimens into a computerized database and meet productivity metrics set forth by the department.
  • Push or pull a cart throughout the lab, picking up samples to be expedited to appropriate testing benches.
  • Assist with receiving shipments from other laboratories, unpacking boxes, and expediting time-sensitive specimens to appropriate departments.
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens.
  • Potentially assist in training of staff on entry-level tasks if deemed competent.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and conform to company safety guidelines and requirements.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required; 1-2 years preferred.
  • Previous medical or production experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills necessary to deal effectively with coworkers, clients, and hospital staff.
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens.
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to pass a standardized color-blind test.
  • Rotate weekends when necessary.
