About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Habilitation Specialist to join our team at WellLife Network. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all unit activities promote social responsibility, independence, dignity, and continued growth among participants.
  • Implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence, as determined by the Individualized Development Team (IDT).
  • Provide training in activities of daily living and perform these activities for individuals requiring total support, such as shaving, toileting, hand washing, and tooth brushing.
  • Monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants in various program and community settings.
  • Provide behavioral interventions when necessary, following least restrictive OPWDD-approved techniques.
  • Successfully complete and perform all required techniques in AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Implement the established activity schedule for each consumer.
  • Understand and complete all required paperwork, including direct support from the Supervising Habilitation Specialist when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated environment at all times.
  • Supervise participants during lunch periods, which may include feeding, unwrapping food items, opening containers, and providing verbal and physical support.
  • Participate in medical, psychiatric, and other appointments for assigned participants as required.
  • Physically interact with program individuals, navigate the environment independently, and assist with SCIP interventions, emergency CPR, AMAP, first aid techniques, and fire drills.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A valid New York State driver's license (may be waived for Assistant Habilitation Specialists or Relief staff who will not drive agency vehicles).
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, with experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and location. WellLife Network offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
