Job Overview

The Recovery Center of Kentucky seeks a dedicated Mental Health Community Support Worker to provide essential support and services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support and Advocacy:
    • Establish and maintain supportive relationships with clients, assisting them in developing personal goals and strategies for achieving well-being and independence.
    • Advocate for clients' rights and access to necessary services and resources.
  • Assessment and Planning:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' needs, strengths, and challenges, collaborating with clients and other professionals to develop individualized support plans.
    • Regularly review and update support plans to reflect clients' changing needs and progress.
  • Skill Development:
    • Provide guidance and support in developing daily living skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and personal care.
    • Offer education and support in managing mental health symptoms and treatment adherence.
    • Facilitate social skills training and community integration activities.
  • Crisis Intervention:
    • Respond to crises in a calm and effective manner, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
    • Develop and implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
    • Coordinate with emergency services and healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Coordination of Services:
    • Connect clients with community resources, such as housing, employment, and healthcare services.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social services, and other relevant organizations.
    • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and support plans.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required by the organization and funding bodies.
    • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Promote awareness of mental health issues within the community.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
    • Participate in outreach activities and community events.
    Requirements
    • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field.
    • Certification:
    • Certification in mental health first aid, crisis intervention, or related training is an asset.
    • Experience:
    • Previous experience working with individuals with mental health challenges.
    • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.
    • Understanding of mental health issues and community resources.
    • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
