About the Position

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Sociology to join our faculty and contribute to the growth and development of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the Human Services major within the Sociology Program, including Introduction to Sociology and Social Problems in the Liberal Arts Core.
  • Advise and mentor students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and professional goals.
  • Serve on faculty committees, contributing to the development of academic programs and policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with the latest research and best practices in the field of sociology.
  • Participate in academic conferences and workshops, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues and peers.
  • Assist in evaluating course offerings and requirements for the Human Services program and the Sociology major.
  • Participate in student recruitment events, helping to attract and retain talented students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of Faculty Council.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Sociology or a related field.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to Christian values and a demonstrated ability to integrate faith and learning in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to access and navigate campus facilities.
  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail, and picking up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
