About the Job

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to lead our Cleft and Craniofacial Speech Language Pathology program. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the effectiveness and efficiency of care for patients and families affected by cleft and craniofacial anomalies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate team function and assist families with the provision of coordinated care to maximize outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Conduct complex speech-language evaluations and treatment for patients across the lifespan, with a focus on velopharyngeal dysfunction, speech sound production disorders, and feeding problems.
  • Oversee and manage the operational and clinical functions of the Cleft-Craniofacial Speech-Language Pathology program, including budgeting, staffing, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to optimize speech-language and feeding skills, and to clarify diagnosis.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare providers on cleft and craniofacial conditions, treatment options, and best practices.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of cleft and craniofacial speech language pathology.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Experience working with cleft and craniofacial patients, with a focus on velopharyngeal dysfunction, speech sound production disorders, and feeding problems.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in program development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and interdisciplinary care.
