About the Job

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry seeks a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to lead our Cleft and Craniofacial Speech-Language Pathology team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the effectiveness and efficiency of care for patients and families affected by cleft and craniofacial anomalies.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate team function and assist families with the provision of coordinated care to maximize outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, communicating with patients, families, and care providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Oversee and assist the Nurse Coordinator to ensure treatment plans are understood, coordinated, and implemented, providing ongoing problem-solving and developing clinical procedures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with other providers to optimize speech-language and feeding skills or clarify diagnosis, such as planning velopharyngeal surgery, obtaining hearing aids, or planning timing of orthodontic treatment.
  • Provide speech-language and feeding treatment for patients with severe disorders, supervising clinical fellows as needed.
  • Serve on the Fetal Diagnostic and Treatment team, providing prenatal consultations for parents expecting infants born with cleft and craniofacial anomalies focusing on feeding.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • PhD, Doctoral or advanced degree; preferably in speech language pathology
  • Experience working with cleft and craniofacial patients
  • Experience running or assisting in running a clinic, including reviewing data to set up clinical fees and reimbursement
  • Experience in lecturing and clinical teaching in speech language pathology and cleft/craniofacial patients
  • Experience in research; preferably cleft Palate-Craniofacial Associate or Foundation sponsored
