Job Summary
Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Teaching and Learning Center as a Study Group Facilitator. This role is responsible for delivering tutoring services to help students enhance their mastery of concepts and academic skills in specific subject areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to support students in various subject areas, including Reading and Study Skills, Writing, Math, Statistics, and more.
- Facilitate Small Intensive Study Groups (ISGs) for selected classes to promote collaborative learning and academic success.
- Coach students in study skills, note-taking, organization, and time management to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Provide a supportive and encouraging environment for students to ask questions and seek help.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and adhere to confidentiality and professional standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Associate's Degree or equivalent may be considered based on experience and expertise).
- Competency in the courses to be tutored, demonstrated by a final grade of 'B' or higher, or current enrollment in the course with a recommendation from the instructor.
- Written recommendation from a Fox Valley Technical College instructor (as applicable).
- Desire to work with diverse student populations and contribute to their academic success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Flexibility in schedule, including availability for evening and weekend assignments.
- Proficiency in computer use and applications that support tutoring.
- Highly motivated with a strong interest in contributing to student success and the college's mission.
