Job Title: Substation Engineer II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer II to join our team at the Municipal Electric Authority of GA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and engineering complex electric power substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer substation projects, developing and revising substation drawings related to physical and control design.
  • Apply engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Develop section views, detail drawings, and layout of conduits and other raceways.
  • Design ground grid and equipment grounding.
  • Develop single and three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams for major substation equipment.
  • Write specifications for materials and equipment, evaluate vendor qualifications, and make purchase recommendations.
  • Evaluate contractor qualifications, make recommendations for contracting, and maintain accurate bid document records.
  • Support the development and maintenance of design standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relay coordination and communicate with Participants, Protection, and Control engineering.
  • Represent the company in meetings and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Provide cost estimates for annual budgets and special projects.
  • Provide technical supervision and review work performed by consultants, drafters, and CAD technicians.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering, with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and knowledge of computer drafting tools, such as AutoCAD.
