Peraton is in search of a Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to our mission in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Community. This role is pivotal within our dedicated and skilled engineering team, focusing on the design, development, testing, and deployment of a sophisticated system in an Agile environment, aimed at achieving mission success for diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage closely with DoD clients and stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle, encompassing development, integration & testing, deployment, and operational phases of a complex ground system architecture.
- Contribute to the creation of mission-critical, high-availability, and high-performance networked systems within a collaborative team setting.
- Generate comprehensive systems engineering documentation, including operational concepts, requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans.
- Facilitate system planning and design to enhance resources in alignment with program requirements.
- Assist in conducting trade studies related to ground systems.
- Possession of an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the capability to obtain or maintain a polygraph, if necessary.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role; or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience. A total of four (4) years of pertinent experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
- Proficiency with Windows-based operating systems, scripting languages for task automation, and system configuration automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
- Experience in system integration and testing, along with system configuration for networked services, file systems, and authentication.
- Skills in operating system administration for Red Hat 7.x, including system builds from bare metal, software package installations, troubleshooting, and security hardening implementations.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with distributed computing technologies.
- Knowledge of virtualization/cloud technologies (e.g., OpenStack, Citrix XenServer, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, VMWare), Docker Containers, Ansible, and Heat templates.
- Experience with front-end processing and network gateway appliances or software.
- Experience in designing, developing, and integrating a comprehensive satellite ground system, including infrastructure, processing frameworks, and software components.
- Familiarity with object-oriented development practices, open architecture systems, distributed computing technologies, web services, SOA, networking technologies, requirements management tools, scripting, automated testing tools, modeling and simulation, and security certification processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, facilitating effective collaboration with management, clients, and various DoD entities.
- Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
