Job Title: Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team at PLP Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Estimating Department in researching project information, preparing estimates, generating proposals, contacting customers, and maintaining the project database.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the Senior Estimator to review tasks and priorities for the day and status of pending work items.
  • Coordinate the entire bid process, including obtaining and printing plans, addenda, and creating proposal templates.
  • Create and distribute bid documents/proposals and track all distributions to bidders.
  • Follow-up with bidders to confirm receipt of proposal and inquire about our bid status.
  • Support estimating staff with bid day related tasks, contractor phone calls, and revisions of proposals.
  • Set-up projects in the company database and maintain database for each project in support of Estimating and Operations department needs.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and organization of electronic and hard copy project files.
  • Maintain the master list of contractor contacts.
  • Monitor quality closely, ensuring that all finished products meet company standards.

Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with computers; Microsoft office (Word, Excel; Outlook); knowledge of Microsoft Project is preferred.
  • Above average typing skills: at least 60 WPM, accurately.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other departments and organizations.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications is helpful.
  • Must be obsessed with details and organization.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Exhibit teamwork.
