Utilize appropriate instructional resources, including design thinking, textbooks, manipulatives, models, technology, and online resources, to create effective instructional units.

Structure content by planning activities that progress from simple to complex, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment.

Plan assessment activities strategically to evaluate whether students have met the intended learning objectives.

Classroom Environment:
Establish a classroom atmosphere rooted in respect and rapport among students and between teacher and students. Address misconduct promptly and discreetly to maintain a conducive learning environment.

Foster a culture of learning by setting high expectations, modeling exemplary work, and encouraging students to take pride in their achievements.

Implement clear classroom procedures to ensure efficient and effective use of instructional time.

Manage student behavior by establishing clear conduct rules for both in-class and out-of-class activities, monitoring engagement, and ensuring students participate in activities with minimal confusion.

Instruction:
Communicate clear goals, objectives, and instructions, ensuring students understand the purpose of their tasks.

Employ appropriate questioning techniques and discussions, utilizing higher-order questions that stimulate critical thinking and engagement.

Engage students through rigorous activities, differentiated tasks, innovative ideas, real-world applications, and opportunities to address community needs.

Provide specific feedback aligned with learning goals, encouraging ongoing engagement and enabling students to correct their mistakes.

Exhibit flexibility by utilizing data collected during lessons to adjust instruction and plan alternative activities based on student responses.

Professional Responsibilities:
Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills. Stay informed about current research-based practices to enhance instructional effectiveness.

Build collegial relationships to collaboratively plan and assess student-centered learning units, ensuring alignment of instructional objectives across disciplines.

Actively engage in all professional development opportunities, representing Westside Atlanta Charter School with professionalism.

Adhere to standardized testing protocols and maintain accurate records. Foster strong home-school connections through effective communication with families to enhance student learning.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or higher.
Possession of a current Teaching Certificate or evidence of training leading to certification.
Classification as Highly Qualified.
Proficiency with technology.
Preferred candidates will have experience in creating and implementing student-centered activities, as well as Gifted and/or ESOL Certification.
