Principal Engineer, Compressor Aerodynamics Specialist

Beehive Industries is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead the compressor aero design, analysis, and development of a novel compressor design utilizing new technologies. This role will partner with hardware owners and various cross-functional leadership on a daily basis to develop and deliver the overall engine performance for customers.
Key Responsibilities- Execute the aerodynamic design, analysis, and evaluation of a centrifugal compressor using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements.
- Deliver aerodynamic solutions using 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D tools with gas turbines, with expertise in evaluating tip leakages, end wall contouring, and designing for secondary flow and cooling features.
- Lead component and system trades from an aerodynamic perspective, setting test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validation.
- Serve as the aerodynamic design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team, ensuring products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective.
- Advocate for component durability while understanding the trade-offs and business decisions necessary to deliver the best overall solution, coordinating with other analysis engineers and hardware owners to optimize the overall system to meet product requirements.
- Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Lead methodologies to develop new technologies to optimize the overall aerodynamic performance of a gas turbine with additive manufacturing, participating in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices.
- Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- At least 12 years of experience in gas turbine component design.
- Strong understanding of design software tools.
- Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective.
- Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles.
- Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
- Proven self-starter and quick learner.
