Job Description

The World Bank Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Country Officer to join our team in the East Asia and Pacific Region. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of countries and contribute to the Bank's mission of reducing poverty and promoting economic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Country Directors in the preparation of country engagement documents, such as Country Partnership Frameworks (CPFs) and Partnership Letters (PLRs)
  • Represent the Country Management Unit (CMU) in HQ and facilitate communications and collaboration between country teams and Washington DC
  • Organize and host visits of high-level authorities to the World Bank DC office and represent the Country Directors in Washington vis-à-vis external stakeholders and institutions
  • Support the Operations Manager with work program formulation and implementation, and coordinate with Practice Managers and GP Directors on the implementation of country programs
  • Review Board packages, analytical work, and monitoring of deliverables, and liaise closely with OPCS, EAP OS, and Senior Management to ensure consistency with current standards and best practice
Requirements
  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience of increasing complexity, of which at least the last 5 years should have been in the Bank
  • Prior work experience in achieving results on the ground in more than one world region
  • Sound operational experience, including thorough knowledge of Bank Group policies, programs, and procedures, and exposure to economic and sector work, CPF, and PLR
  • Portfolio management experience and proven competency in implementation support
