Position Summary

The Principal Technical Manager for Upstream Oil and Gas is responsible for providing expert technical guidance to Solomon's benchmarking and consulting initiatives within the upstream sector. This role requires a deep understanding of production operations and the ability to analyze operational data to derive valuable business insights. The ideal candidate will stay informed about industry trends and be adept at engaging with clients across various levels.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Roadmap Management
  • Oversee the technical strategy for Solomon's leading upstream production benchmarking studies, ensuring alignment with long-term growth and business goals.
  • Lead enhancements to upstream benchmarking analyses, including the Onshore and Offshore Studies, focusing on technical scope, methodology, and insights generation.
  • Execute upstream production benchmarking studies while collaborating with clients and internal teams to deliver substantial business value.
  • Plan and manage consulting projects in the upstream oil and gas sector.
  • Guarantee the technical quality and client value of performance improvement offerings.
Market Intelligence & Industry Trends
  • Continuously monitor industry developments and key client initiatives, applying this intelligence to refine benchmarking and consulting services.
  • Identify and implement necessary changes to study scope, metrics, and deliverables to address evolving industry challenges.
  • Enhance client value by deepening the insights derived from their participation in studies.
Technology & Analytical Methodologies
  • Apply innovative technologies and analytical techniques to extract new insights from Solomon's intellectual property and databases, including sustainability-related insights for the upstream sector.
  • Define improvements to infrastructure that enhance both client participation in studies and the efficiency of Solomon's study execution.
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Work closely with Benchmarking Study Managers, the Benchmarking Product Manager, and the Technology Team to coordinate technical improvements in alignment with company objectives.
Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering is required.
  • Master's degree or advanced professional qualifications (e.g., MBA, PhD) are preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of 12 years in an oil and gas operating or energy consulting firm.
  • At least 8 years of upstream production operational experience in technical support, production, maintenance, or management roles.
  • Significant experience in onshore and offshore production operations.
Skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible information for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Information

Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally. This position may be based in various locations, including remote options.
