Job Summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Surveying Technician I to join their team. As a Surveying Technician I, you will be responsible for operating surveying instruments, collecting data, and performing manual labor tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and employee-owned consulting firm that provides a range of engineering, architecture, and information technology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate surveying instruments, such as Total Stations, GPS, and levels, to collect data and perform measurements.
  • Record survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, drawings, and data collectors.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, such as cutting brush, carrying stakes, and stacking rods.
  • Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction, using engineering plans.
  • Maintain equipment and load supplies in vehicles used by surveying crews.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • No prior experience necessary, but preferred.
  • Ability to work in small groups and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in the field 90% of the time, and the employee will be required to walk while carrying equipment in various conditions and terrains. The work is performed within a general office environment 10% of the time, and the office work is generally sedentary in nature.

Anticipated Travel

20% of the time.
