Job SummaryWe seek a talented Assistant Professor to join our Stockbridge School of Agriculture. This 9-month, full-time tenure-track position will focus on urban managed landscapes, with a distribution of effort comprising 40% Research, 40% Teaching, and 20% Service. The successful candidate will develop an interdisciplinary program on sustainable urban landscape management, collaborating with the UMass Extension Turf Team and the Landscape, Nursery & Urban Forestry Team.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in turfgrass management, urban landscapes, and related fields.
- Conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Secure external funding to support research and extension programs.
- Provide guidance to students, oversee graduate research, and contribute to curriculum development.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
- Ph.D. in agronomy, turfgrass science, soil science, or related fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in turfgrass management, agronomy, soil fertility, or abiotic and biotic stress management.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity through publications and presentations.
- Experience or potential in securing external funding for research.
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
