Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Juvenile Detention Officer. As a key member of our detention center staff, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular room checks and observations to ensure the safety and security of residents
  • Supervise residents during daily activities, including meals, showers, and housekeeping
  • Enforce facility policies and procedures, and issue warnings and disciplinary measures as necessary
  • Perform intake procedures for new residents, including completing required forms and conducting searches
  • Operate the control room and maintain security of the facility, including monitoring CCTV and operating the intercom system
  • Prepare observation reports and maintain logs regarding medication, incidents, and incoming and outgoing telephone calls
  • Patrol housing areas and move residents as needed
  • Take toxicology specimens as requested or authorized
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass required background check, including drug and alcohol screening
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work weekends and accept mandatory overtime
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle stressful situations. You may be exposed to violent youths or youths under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and may be required to intervene in fights. You may also be exposed to contagious or communicable diseases.
