Work Schedule: Day shifts, 9.5 hours for three weekdays, 4 hours on one weekend day, or Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday to Thursday with 5-8 hour shifts

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Outpatient Coding Specialist to enhance our healthcare services. This role is pivotal in ensuring optimal reimbursement through precise coding practices and maintaining a high-quality clinical database for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign ICD10CM and PCS codes to outpatient visit diagnoses and procedure codes, while capturing essential clinical data elements from all outpatient medical records of discharged patients.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of medical records and computer-assisted codes (CAC) to ensure the correct assignment of ICD diagnosis/procedure codes in the appropriate sequence, adhering to official coding guidelines for accurate DRG assignments.
  • Perform data analysis related to hospital outpatient coding.
  • Accurately review and code patient records across various clinical areas, specifically focusing on hospital outpatient services.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in CCS, CPC, and/or CIC is required
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of recent experience in hospital outpatient coding
  • Experience with Epic and 3M 360 CAC is preferred
