Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asset Protection Supervisor to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our asset protection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our members, employees, and assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute inventory counts, supervise, and direct the work of team members in the asset protection and inventory control departments.
  • Develop and maintain a safe club environment through the execution of theft deterrence strategies, member engagement, and delivery of our safety standards.
  • Manage physical and systemic processes, reverse logistics processes, and ensure inventory controls and count accuracy in the club.
  • Monitor and execute all company asset protection programs.

  • Have the foresight to see a breakdown in process and correct it before it negatively impacts club performance metrics.

Primary Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Perform safety inspections. Instruct on accident prevention techniques and assist in accident investigations. Handle workers' compensation and general liability rates.
  • Develop/teach company asset prevention programs and initiatives.
  • Lead, execute, and investigate results from inventory count program.
  • Perform inventory counts.
  • Manage inventory control functions. Oversee count teams, programs. Implement best practices and programs focused on operational shrink deterrence.
  • Oversee Inventory Control Driver and assigned responsibilities.
  • Oversee RTV process and ensure the accuracy of damage and return to vendor and transfers. Validate that all merchandise leaving the back doors has been processed per company guidelines.
  • Develop effective and productive teams in the asset protection and inventory control departments through selection, training, managing, assessment, evaluating performance, coaching, motivating, and performance management when necessary.
  • Execute Asset Protection Routines as outlined in the Asset Protection Supervisor Calendar.
  • Complete weekly review of the club shrink report, monthly annotation on the shrink (over $500) report, and investigate/resolve variances accordingly.
  • Planning and execution of cycle inventory preparation process.
  • Execute merchandise protection standards focused on current club theft trends.
  • Partner with RAPM and investigate internal and external theft, fraud, and organized retail crime cases.
  • Communicate results of investigations and provide updates to leadership based upon facts of each case.
  • Conduct weekly CCTV review per the Asset Protection calendar.
  • Complete weekly data entry of inventory recoveries per the Asset Protection calendar.
  • Complete monthly review of the club shrink report. Investigate variances accordingly and annotate findings.
  • Planning and execution of cycle inventory preparation process.
  • Manage, review, and resolve losses identified through exception-based reporting and cash variances.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, grocery, and/or management experience is preferred.
  • Prior asset protection, safety, and/or inventory control experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including managing/supervising cross-functional teams, training team members, and driving and communicating results.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Open shift availability required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Job Conditions
  • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
  • Occasionally requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be frequent exposure to cleaning agents and hazardous material.
