The Middle School Educational Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment for diverse student populations. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students in grades 6-8, focusing on their academic and emotional development.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing necessary accommodations to enhance learning.
- Collaborate closely with educators, staff, and the leadership team to create effective learning strategies.
- Analyze and interpret educational assessments, guiding faculty in applying insights to support student learning profiles.
- Identify students requiring additional assistance and develop individualized learning plans.
- Maintain open communication with families and external support networks regarding student progress and challenges.
- Enhance students' skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Assist students in developing effective study habits across various subjects.
- Work with small groups and individual students both inside and outside the classroom setting.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Participate in shared responsibilities during lunch, recess, and special courses.
- Attend faculty and team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.
- Collaborate with the Department of Education to establish and uphold Individual Education Plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Director.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Special Education, ideally with a focus on Learning Disabilities.
- A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience is required.
- State Certification in Special Education is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of various learning styles and differentiated instructional techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a collaborative learning environment.
- Demonstrated success in fostering high achievement in the classroom.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with parents and stakeholders.
- Proficient written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience in interpreting psycho-educational evaluations to assess student needs.
Work Schedule:
- Standard school hours with additional faculty and department meetings as required.
