Operations Manager Job Description

At Warehouse Workers, LLC., we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our operations from casting through to the shipping of aluminum products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and serve as a critical interface to translate upper management objectives to the shop floor.
  • Engage employees across all organizational levels to develop a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Translate high-level business objectives into actionable tasks that are understood and implemented on the shop floor.
  • Utilize a data-driven approach for decision-making, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Measure results, analyze performance data, and provide regular feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of disciplined and Operational Excellence with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Prioritize and determine key focus areas for operations weekly, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques to maintain operational stability and drive continuous improvements.
  • Apply Theory of Constraints to identify and address bottlenecks in the production process.
  • Communicate effectively with both upper management and shop floor personnel, ensuring clarity and understanding at all levels.
  • Collaborate with staff organizations, such as finance, quality, supply chain, and environmental health and safety (EHS), translating their needs into actionable tasks.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans, including CAPEX investments, in collaboration with the plant manager, supply chain, and finance teams.

Competencies:

  • Ability to deliver short-term tactical results that are aligned with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of aluminum manufacturing processes, equipment, and product flow paths.
  • Understanding of company's master labor contract rules and the unionized environment.
  • Commitment to safety, employee engagement, and our Business Systems (ABS) principles.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop talent across all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with operational and financial metrics and the ability to forecast impacts of operational performance on financial outcomes.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 12 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a heavy industrial setting.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience managing both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Minimum of five years experience in a unionized environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship (ITAR compliance).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aluminum casting and hot rolling operations.
  • Familiarity with Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) system.
