Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Deli Clerk to join our team in a retail grocery store environment. As a Deli Clerk, you will play a crucial role in food preparation and customer service, ensuring a positive experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests in locating items, answering questions, and addressing concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Order Fulfillment: Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
  • Customer Service: Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly, using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
  • Quality Control: Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
  • Food Safety: Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
  • Efficiency: Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
  • Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
  • Support the Team: Perform other duties as assigned to support the team's efforts.
Requirements
  • Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
  • Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
  • Food Knowledge: Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Full range of upper body motion.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
