About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Mechanical team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for science and technology projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop HVAC systems for science and technology projects
  • Prepare and review HVAC calculations for loads
  • Develop and edit specifications to reflect project requirements
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Respond to RFIs and accurately review submittals
  • Solve installation problems and apply risk management procedures
  • Manage and deliver revisions and sketches according to proper numbering convention
  • Edit and develop scope of work narratives
  • Market Sector - Understands specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector
  • Understand and properly provide existing EXP details relevant to projects
  • Direct and mentor Designer level staff on all of their responsibilities
  • Perform at a 'responsible charge' level; meeting EXP's design and quality levels
  • QA/QC reviews of all calculations by designers, and provide guidance and mentoring
  • Determine content of drawings and specs for Designers in order to meet the scope of work
  • Develop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other Project Managers
  • Review code related items with Designers, and ensure compliance
  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
  • Write studies and reports for systems on projects
  • Writes sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systems
  • Understands and applies concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems
  • Air side systems- CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selection
  • Hydronic Systems-hot, chilled condenser, steam
  • Thorough understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project
  • Advanced equipment selection and analysis - chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, heap filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps
  • Thorough understanding of total energy concepts
  • Fluent in energy software applications
  • Fluent in developing life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for project systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 5+ years of building HVAC design experience
  • EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred
  • Experience designing and marketing in science and technology preferred
