About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Mechanical team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for our clients in the Science and Technology sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop HVAC systems for MEP Buildings, including Revit and CAD proficiency
  • Prepare and review HVAC calculations for loads, ensuring compliance with mechanical and energy codes
  • Edit specifications to reflect project requirements, and develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases
  • Select and schedule equipment, and meet with vendors to determine specification requirements
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, respond to RFI's, and accurately review submittals
  • Solve installation problems, and apply risk management procedures to minimize exposure to problems
  • Understand MEP/FP work planning, and manage design process to available hours in work plan
  • Deliver appropriate documentation, and work with project coordinators and clients to meet scheduled project milestones
  • Manage and deliver revisions, and edit and develop scope of work narratives
  • Understand specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector, and provide existing EXP details relevant to projects
  • Direct and mentor Designer level staff on all responsibilities, and perform at a 'responsible charge' level
  • QA/QC reviews of calculations, and provide guidance and mentoring
  • Determine content of drawings and specs for Designers, and develop and monitor work plans
  • Review code related items, and ensure compliance
  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
  • Write studies and reports for systems on projects, and write sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW, and HW systems
  • Understand and apply concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems, air side systems, and hydronic systems
  • Thorough understanding of psychometrics, and advanced equipment selection and analysis
  • Fluent in energy software applications, and life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for project systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years of building HVAC design experience, with EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred
  • Experience designing and marketing in Science and Technology preferred
